Just-A-Buck Licensing, Inc., headquartered in Goshen, New York, support a chain of franchised and company-owned dollar stores with locations throughout the eastern United States. The first store opened in Poughkeepsie in 1988. The company became eligible to sell franchises in 1992.
They do not warehouse any inventory, nor do they own any trucks to transport goods. They have long established relationships with closeout vendors who drop ship deliveries to each Just A Buck location. Their business model is set up as a "win win;" Just A Buck does not derive revenue from the inventory going into the store, their revenue is on the royalty fee when the merchandise is sold. Just A Buck's philosophy hasn't changed over the years, very clean, well lit stores with merchandise displayed attractively in an organized fashion to provide the consumer with a very pleasant shopping experience. It is this formula that has enabled this small but unique chain of dollar stores to compete with the large corporate giants.
